Minister of Music, Kendall J. Smith, began his passion for music at the tender age of eight at the Philippians Baptist Church, under the Pastorate of his late grandfather, Rev. Harold Haughton. After the passing of his grandfather, he and his family joined with the Guiding Light Baptist Church where he sat and studied music under his cousin Tom Washington Sr. As he began branching off to play for other churches in the city of New Orleans, he realized that God had a special anointing on his life. Throughout his musical career, he has served as a Musician/Minister of Music at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, True Light Baptist Church, Beacon Light International Baptist Cathedral “Youth Church”, New Orleans East Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Providence Missionary Baptist Church all of New Orleans just to name a few of his affiliates. In 2014, he united with the New Hope Baptist Church pastored by Rev. Jamaal Weathersby; and the Music Ministry under the leadership of Luther McClain. In 2016 God granted Kendall the opportunity to become the Minister of Music of the New Hope Baptist Church where he currently serves while putting God first in everything he does. His motto is, “Allowing God to minister to him first, so he can be an effective minister to someone else.” Philippians 4:13 - "I can do ALL things through Christ that strengthens me!"
