Happy New Year!
How many times have we heard or uttered these words? Oftentimes, superficially without any thought at all. So rather than make it a statement, why not format it in a question. Will you have a Happy New Year?
A resounding response in the affirmative can be yours if you consider what Paul wrote in Philippians 4:11; "...for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." This is the secret to having a Happy New Year - contnetment! True contentment is the belief that I have everything I need at this present moment; the confidence that if I needed anything else, God would give it to me and the certainty that if I need anything else, God will give me that too. Keeping this in mind, we will find that whatever state we are in we will be content. Therefore, in this New Year, let us resolve to adopt these principles which will bring about true contentment:
- Develop a lifestyle pleasing to God, not circumstances.
- Establish a habit of giving as unto the Lord.
- Maintain a thankful attitude as your state of mind.
- Seek God's will in EVERY situation; and trust God's promises.
Remember, contentment is an attitude of the heart. Will you have a Happy New Year?
